Sarah Palin

I really never talk about my political views because a lot of times they are a little unpopular. I just have to say though that Sarah Palin is one amazing woman!! Listening to her speak the other night made me proud to be an American and a WOMAN. You go Sarah Palin......Don't let the liberal media get you down. They are always pretty good at being hypocritical. Do we ever ask a man how he is going to take care of his family and do his job? NO! Don't all families have bumps in the road? Yes...I seem to remember many Democrats that have had many family skeletons in their closets. We need to stop beating this woman up for her personal life and focus on what she has done for her state of Alaska. Isn't this about politics? And to anyone that thinks about commenting on this post that if she would have been around as a Mom more of the time, her daughter most likely would never have gotten pregnant...give me a freaking break. Kids have sex and no matter how much you preach to them about using protection, you actually can't be there to make sure they use it when the time comes.(you can't tell me when you were a teenager that you always remembered that condom in the heat of passion!!)

You never know...I may change my mind closer to the election but as of right now I think McCain made an excellent selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate! Oh...and I couldn't resist putting the pix of her sitting on a Harley Davidson! :)~

Hard to believe that your views would be unpopular in conservative middle America. But anyway...

Yes, the treatment of her in the media has been disgusting. It would be interesting to see how a strong-willed, professional mother like Sarah would be treated if she sat on the other side of the aisle. But, no matter which side she sits on, this type of tabloid-journalism is dispicable. (If you can really call it "journalism".) No matter, the backlash has started and people are rushing to her defense. I think the media has kinda screwed itself with this one.

I was excited when I heard McCain had picked Palin as his running mate. I had heard a news story about her when her son, who has down syndrome, was born. At that time the media was praising her, and now they're tearing her apart and using that as one of her "weak" points. I think she is an amazing woman, and being a mother to any children, especially one with special needs, gives her a great mixture of toughness and compassion that this country needs. As for her teenage daughter who is pregnant, we all have things that happen in our lives, and I believe she has handled it with class. Her kids are very fortunate to have her for a mother. I think she is an awesome role model for young girls, and all women. All I can say is....You go girl!

I think she's probably a nice person. But that's really the only nice thing I can say about her. She's an anti-feminist who claims she's a feminist. She's anti-union, even though the union supported her family for years (her husband has been in the union for 20 years). She is a pro-lifer, too, and if she's pro-life, then she's into having the government tell us what to do with our bodies. In other words, she wants to take away our choices, and that could also translate to helmet laws.

I hope my comment doesn't offend you, Steph, as that is not my intent. I have a lot more to say, but I'll refrain from saying more on your blog. :)

Ann...not offended in the least. I feel everyone has the right to their own opinion and I would never tell anyone they couldn't voice it. Thanks for being honest in how you feel. I think the world would be a boring place if we all agreed on everything.

Everyone knows how I feel about this I think, but if anyone isn't sure, I'm with you 100%! Sarah Palin is the most exciting woman to come on the political scene in years, and I find her refreshing. Naturally, she cannot possibly please everyone, because we are all so different. What I will say is that she has gotten results as Governor of Alaska. Her experience running both a small town and a State gives her more experience than Obama, who has run absolutely nothing!

As far as the union goes, I'm a union member too, so I have a unique insight into that aspect. Guess what? The union would tell you to vote for Barney the Dinosaur if he had a "D" next to his name. They don't care about any other issues but those that affect the union. Well, I'm sorry but I put my country in front of my job or the union any day of the week. Obama might be the biggest friend the union ever had, but what about the rest of the country?

As far as the women's issues, the term "our bodies" loses a great deal of meaning when there is another human life at stake inside. Who speaks for the innocent child? Sarah Palin and her husband knew they were going to have a Down's baby, but instead of killing it they chose to love and nurture him. That to me commands nothing but respect and admiration. Sorry Ann! Don't hate me!

That's what life is all about, making choices. Too many of us take the easy way out. When it comes to choosing a leader, I'll go with the person who isn't afraid to hoof it down the bumpy road less traveled. We already have helmet laws in Mass. I'm happy to say Sarah Palin had nothing to do with them. They were enacted by Democrats!

GO PALIN!!! Shoot your gun, ride your Harley, and tell 'em all to GO TO HELL!!!

Joker! Now that is what a thinking person says. It's exciting to see people using their heads instead of just following what some talking head on TV tells them to do. Great post Joker.

Thanks Joker. I've said almost the same thing for years.. I too am a union man. But I have convictions I have to live by. And I have to sleep at night.

Thank you so much BB, Anonymous & Webster World. I really appreciate it. Please visit my blog to see the rant I ended up going on, which had it's beginings stirred up here!

I like government folks that are anti-everything. I even like political gridlock and party infighting. If we can only keep the two side fighting there will be no new laws, no new programs, no new taxes, etc etc. I think we would be in bad shape if any one party controled the political landscape. ps i LIKE Palin, she is who she is and she is not an elete trying to decide how to spend my money. Sorry getting a little carried away ............

I don't know that much about her except for the media blips but then again the same goes for Obama. But I will say this, what does her daughter or her hairdoo or any of that mess have to do with how she handles the job? Though I won't vote for her just because she's pretty and on the flip side I won't not vote for her because she's a women.
All the (mudd) slinging from both sides of any election cloud the real issues at hand. Who is the Best person for the job is what we as adults should focus on.
