Steve McQueen - He Loved the Fast Machines
A few years back I went to an exhibit, at a museum, called Art of the Motorcycle. One of the motorcycles belonged to Steve McQueen and I was completely mesmerized. I got chill bumps immediately and could feel his spirit there as I admired his Indian motorcycle. I kept thinking...I have to touch this...I have to touch this motorcycle. When the docent wasn't looking I reached up and touched the throttle. A few weeks back during our trip to the National Motorcycle Museum I rounded the corner and there was the motorcycle I had touched. Once again I felt his spirit there in the room. I'd like to give a little tribute here to Steve McQueen. He was an All American Rebel, a freebird, and he loved those fast machines!

Capital City Custom Cycle Show
Last weekend was the annual Capital City Custom Cycle Show. Thank you Tim, Margo, and Sydney for accompanying me to the show and for paying the $8 a piece to get in. You can tell by the line of motorcycles in the photo below that a little melting snow and sandy roads weren't going to keep the hardy Iowa Bikers from riding their scoots on this 50 degree day!
I could smell the leather as I entered the 4-H building at the Iowa State Fair Grounds. And there were Bikers everywhere I looked! You know I was in heaven. I took a few photos of the show. As I looked at the pictures, I kind of noticed a theme of the bikes that I'm drawn to. I was excited because I ran into the guys from Twisted Choppers. They came down from Sioux Falls, SD to show their choppers in the show again this year. I did a story on them after last years show and I was impressed that they actually remembered who I was. We chatted for a few minutes and then I was on my way to take some photos. Hope you enjoy the bikes that I was drawn to. I'm kind of a peanut tank, bobber lover. LOL
Had to give a little nod to the Victory Motorcycles since they are built in Spirit Lake, IA. 2009 is Victory's 10 Year Anniversary.
I know it's hard to tell but that is Big Swag(on the right) from the Speed Channel show Pass Time.

Check out the rake on this Iowa Hawkeye themed Choppa! Holy lotta control you'd need to have to handle that bad boy.

Love this little Indian! I think they may have just put an Indian sticker on this little bike but it's still cute. Does anyone know, did Indian make a little mini bike back in the day?
Check out this Cowboy inspired motorcycle. What got my attention was the saddle seat. Ride 'em Chrome Cowboy! Yee Haw!
It was hard to drag me away but Tim, Margo, and Sydney finally got me to leave the 4-H building with all the leather, bikes, and Old Dirty Bikers. As we made our way back the Suburban my thoughts wandered to another year of riding and how I can't freaking wait for Spring!

Happy Thanksgiving
Wishing you all a very joyous day!
I am thankful for so many things....my family and my friends...motorcycles...football...men in assless chaps....oh...i think that's part of one of Mr. M's posts. Seriously though....I'm thankful as hell for my life. No matter what happens in my life there is always something to be thankful for.
Please say a prayer for our troops who are away from their families this holiday season! God Bless them and keep them out of harms way!

A little IHG Trivia

Favorite brand of bike? Harley Davidson (Indian Motorcycles come in a close 2nd)
Favorite color of bike? Black
Do you always wear a helmet? Years past, no. This season, yes. I saw a motor scooter/car accident and it really made me think. I do believe that it should be the rider's choice. I'm against helmet laws.
Most miles ridden in a day? 476 miles Since I ride on the back I just go with the flow!
Do you belong to a riding club? Not currently Dan and I are pretty much Lone Wolves.
How many bikes do you currently own? 1
Do you wave at passing bikers? Yes...I seriously do the biker wave to everyone on two wheels...even bicycles. :)~ I find it rude when people don't wave back. I try to make myself believe they didn't see us. Yeah Right!
How many brand t-shirts do you own? 5 I'm not really into HD clothing. Two of the ones that I have were free.
Do people think you are obsessed with motorcycles? Yes, people think I'm motorcycle nuts. I have a HD bathroom and my desk at work has pictures of the bike and my biker friends. I even have 3 little mini HD motorcycles sitting on my shelf. I'm obsessed!
What is your favorite type of riding? I love long distance trips. I'm not really into just riding around town. Dan gets too annoyed when he has to stop at numerous stop lights. Plus I love seeing our great country.
Do you have any riding superstitions? Yes I do. I always have to have my guardian angel medal with me. I also have a HD poker chip that I put in my bag. And before each trip I ask our guardian angels to watch over us on our journey.
