Check out this cool Patriotic Rock that is located in Greenfield, IA. This was the rock that school students used for graffiti but one day Ray "Bubba" Sorensen decided to pay tribute to the United States and Veterans. Thankfully, out of respect, local students have not defaced the rock since the tribute was painted. The rock is located on Highway 25, just 1 mile south of Interstate-80 near Greenfield, exit 86.
If traveling from Greenfield junction 25 & 92, take Hwy 25 north 12 miles.
I'd like to thank my friend Norm for sending me these photos and also for serving our country. I can't wait to take a trip to Greenfield to check it out myself.
Here is the web addy for the artist that painted this wonderful tribute. It's worth checking out. http://bubbazartwork.com/

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing.
I love the artwork. That's really cool. It's also neat that the students have enough respect to leave it alone. My highschool (MANY MOONS AGO) had a grafitti rock too. No cool murals were ever painted on it though.
That is so cool! Thanks for sharing the pic! It's great that some (like yourself) continue to honor our armed forces.
Ms IHG,
The rock I remember was the POW/MIA rock when the local TV station did a story about it and Bubba. Thanks for reminding me I need to go for a ride and check this out. It's not like it's a long ways away from here. Plus on the way is the new Iowa Veterans Memorial Cemetery which just opened up this spring.

That is AWESOME! I really love how he has the soldiers depicted from the Revolutionary War right up to the Present Day. I'm even more glad some jackass hasn't wrecked it. It's an outstanding tribute by a very talented artist.
What talent! I find it amazing that the local kids haven't wrecked it yet. Hmmm, maybe they've learned respect!
Thanks for sharing with us!
The rock "rocks" and I don't think any "taggers" would dare to mess with it!
I always get a lump in my throat seeing photos like that. Thanks for sharing!
Just a note:
Some comments from above state the local kids have not defaced the rock. Well a year or two after the first painting, a couple jerks did deface it. The locals did not like that much. I don,t think those two will do that again.
