Miss Sturgis 2008 - Not a Biker Chick

Miss Sturgis 2008 - Rachel Reilly. Non-biker....has never been to Sturgis...and doesn't know much about the biker lifestyle.

Very interesting....odd even....

Shouldn't Miss Sturgis be either a local Sturgis girl/woman or a chick that rides and regularly attends the rally? Does the Sturgis Committee only find beauty in spokes model types?

My question to all of you....Do you think that Miss Sturgis should be a Glam Girl that models for a living or a true blue biker chick that is a serious babe too?

Personally I was hoping Sasha Mullins would get the honor of Miss Sturgis 2008. She's the Essence of what Sturgis is. She is a true Windsister! If you'd like to read about her experience in the Miss Sturgis selection process go to her blog: http://downtheroadapeace.blogspot.com/

Well...that's all I have to say about that for now!

Have a great night!!

No doubt about it..Miss Sturgis should be a real biker chick, not a professional model. And as I'm sure everyone else will agree, there are plenty of smokin' hot biker chicks who still look better after riding 400 miles than some of those skanky models after they spent three hours in a make-up chair. Ok, sorry, don't know why, but this really made me mad.

I'm with you. I was all for Sasha. Whoever was doing the choosing must not have been bikers, or it was one of those deals where they knew who the winner would be even before the contest started. It's really too bad - a disgrace actually. The biggest rally of them all is represented by some tofu-eating bimbo who doesn't ride. Asses.

You should probably know by now where I stand Steph. Sasha is the essence of everything biker. She is the poster child for "freedom on the road". She's the one who got me to open my heart and embrace the biker inside me. This cool little biker chick friend of mine got 10 times more comments on the Miss Sturgis website than anyone else! They pulled her in and encouraged her along the whole way, even using her pictures to promote the contest (because they know of her popularity in the biker community). All the time knowing that she wasn't what they wanted. They just wanted some sparkly little showpiece to mold and control for their marketing purposes.
Unfortunately, a lot of Sturgis has been taken hostage by the business leaders and politicians in the area. It's become all about promotion and image. It's become all about how many more bikers can they lure in to spend lots of money on overpriced hotels and hamburgers. The lawyers are even sniffing around the back door now as the Sturgis Chamber of Commerce has started filing lawsuits against other towns named "Sturgis" to keep them from holding any type of biker events. It truly has become a sad state of affairs and the Miss Sturgis "contest" (if you want to call it that) just adds to the shame.

I think B.B., Joker and Dean pretty much said it. Definitely a great looking real biker chick should be Miss Sturgis. I mean, why the hell not! It IS a BIKER EVENT not a GUCCI RUNWAY event.

What difference does it make? 90% of the idiots at Sturgis are posers anyway. Doctors, cops, lawyers, dentists, even our dentist goes to Sturgis. It's become a joke... gads, go to Sturgis and RENT a bike... or TRAILER your bike to Sturgis then ride it while you're there. Sturgis ain't for real bikers any more. Why should Miss Sturgis be any more real then the fake bikers that show up at Sturgis?!

When the BMF British Motorcycle Federation) ran their Miss BMF compertition all entrants had to ride their motorcycle into the arena! Maybe they ought to do this at Sturgis?

I'm with all of you, Miss Sturgis should be a biker chick!

I agree, Miss Sturgis should be a biker. I know many I ride with that would fit the bill perfectly. May not be quite as fancy but easy to spend time with, ride with and talk with after arriving. I will take a pony tail and jeans any day over what you usually see in the biker girl contests. Doesnt matter where it takes place.

Miss Sturgis was chosen by a committee after the internet voting was complete. Of the original 12 who won, only 7 are actually there because a few refused to be a part of it once they found out they weren't Miss Sturgis and a few were fired. Sasha was great and everyone loved her in the interview, but Glencoe needed someone who would work for them through the Rally. Any one who knows Sasha knows that she wouldn't put up with most of the BS that goes on in the Sturgis Political Arena. The committee knew that too. For example, earlier this week Miss Sturgis was on the stage at Thunder Road in a bikini contest. She was told she had to do this. Do you think Sasha would have put up with that?

I couldn't agree more. I was one of last year's contestants (NHC) and it's not that I have 'sour grapes' about not winning it's that I feel that this is not a fair representation of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Honestly, I don't think this should be open to professional models who have no concept about riding! (I've been riding for over 6 years now!)

Is it just me or is there NO contest this year?? I was going to enter again but I can't find the website anymore....
